Three Stars
The Michelin Guide and the stars it awards to restaurants around the world have been a dominating force in the high end restaurant world for decades, but few outside the kitchens it reviews understands what the stars are awarded for and what they mean to the people who get them. This film from director Lutz Hachmeister does a great job of not only explaining what the fuss is all about, but presenting viewers with a wide array of star holders, some of whom have dedicated their lives to getting a three star rating and some who won the honor and then walked away from it all because the demands of holding onto the stars took up too much of their lives. Interesting as it all is, the best part of the film, however, may be the footage of the chefs at work in their kitchens creating the food they want to serve people, the food they are passionate about, the food they would make no matter what the Michelin Guide said about it.
